Having problems managing your dog?

Dave specialises in coming to your home and teaching you how to manage your canine problems such as toilet training, boisterousness, jumping up, barking, uncontrollable on leash behaviour, not coming when called, aggression towards other dogs, unwanted digging and household destruction.

Dave customises all his programmes for each client, as each family's situation is different, understanding each situation as a standalone case is paramount to gaining an insight into each unique situation and modifying behaviours to the needs of each family.

A private consultation is arranged in your home to understand the issues and begin addressing them. This involves setting out a programme of redirection training, that is rather than focusing on what you don't want from your dog, Dave teaches you how to teach your dog an array of behaviours to get your dog to do, instead of the unwanted behaviour. For example if your dog is a door charger that jumps on everyone who enters the door, Dave will teach you to train your dog to sit obediently several metres from the door and remain calm to greet your guests.

NB. Dave comes to your house to train you to train you and your dog, it is a commitment, it is not an easy way out by any means, so do ensure that you are ready and prepared to put the time in to modifying your issues with in the household, having the personal attention however does make learning the techniques easier as it is one on one and in your home.... it is all about commitment to overcoming the barriers we have and continue with the skills you have been given.

Group Classes- Puppy and Adult

Adult Dog & Puppy Classes

The world we live in can be daunting for dogs and our puppy class is designed to help puppies understand this new environment to set them up for a life of success and our Adult classes are designed to get our older dogs back on track and following comands using Positive Reinforcement.

PUPPY PRE-SCHOOL

Puppy Classes are designed for puppies under 16 weeks, with some exceptions for different breeds so contact Dave if you have any concerns. This course is done in doors in a sterile environment whilst puppies may not have had their final vaccinations and involves socialisation with other puppies to ensure good social interaction for your young animals

The course covers:

Toilet training
Basic manners
leadership
Caring for your dog
Introducing new environments
Loose lead walking
Socialisation and well mannered play

This course runs for 5 weeks, with week one being without puppies.

The Cost is $150 for the 5 week course.

PUPPY SCHOOL

For puppies over 4 months (16 weeks) up to 6 months and all vaccinations complete.

The Course covers:

Basic manners
Toilet Training
Leadership Skills
Loose Lead Walking
Calm behaviour
Socialisation and well mannered play
Basic Trick Training
Lead walking
and eliminating poor behaviours....

This course runs for 5 weeks, with week 1 being without dogs. All dogs on this course must be fully vaccinated.

Cost is $200 for the 5 week course.

ADULT DOG COURSE

Our pet dog classes are designed for dogs 18 months of age and above.

This course covers:

Basic Obedience (Sit, Down, Stay etc.)
Manners
Walking nicely on lead
Calm behaviour
Preventing jumping
Coming back when called
Leadership skills
Clicker training
Basic trick training
Problem solving (e.g. digging, chewing etc)

This course runs for an hour each week over a period of 7 weeks. Please note that week 1 runs for 1.5 hours with no dogs.

To join this course dogs must be 18 months or over and must be up to date with their vaccinations before commencing the course.

Cost is $250 for the seven week course.

Fun & Fitness for Dogs & their Humans

A completely new way of training and bo nding with your dog in a fun and friendly environment. It is all about getting fit whilst learning with your dog.

Walkabouts

Dave's Dog Walkabouts involves an hour of fun, socialisation and fitness for your dog through streets and park lands and dog friendly Beaches, Walkabouts involve a maximum of 4 dogs per handler and all the fun and frivolity is not just for the dogs as we send live footage of the dogs having their day out to the owners via Facebook, Twitter and Mobile Phone.

Training Walks

Training walks are essential for those dogs which are problem walkers, Dave will modify the unwanted behaviour to allow your dog to become a pleasure to walk most dogs require only one training walk to counteract the unwanted behaviour be it pulling or high distraction, however dogs that have aggressive tendencies may require more sessions.

Each dog requires different techniques to improve their 'on lead' walking, a training walk consists of a Half hour of modification walking with Dave and another half hour with the owner where by all the techniques and training methods are learned and you become the trainer , after all, learned problems need ongoing maintenance.

All dogs joining our Walkabouts and Dog Walking groups are required to do a training walk and assessment.
